mpai: multiplayer sessions for Codex and Claude Code

mpai adds multiplayer collaboration to existing Codex and Claude Code sessions, letting teams share AI coding context without copy-pasting between terminals.

mpai takes sessions you’ve already started in Codex or Claude Code and lets multiple people work in them at the same time.

The Product Hunt listing describes it in one line: “Make existing Codex and Claude Code sessions multiplayer.” No new IDE, no new agent — a collaboration layer on top of tools you’re already running.

What changes when a session goes multiplayer:

  • Shared context — everyone in the session sees the same conversation history, file changes, and agent actions
  • Existing sessions work — you don’t start fresh; mpai hooks into sessions already in progress
  • Two agents supported — OpenAI’s Codex and Anthropic’s Claude Code, the dominant terminal-based coding tools

Claude Code shipped as a CLI designed for solo use: one developer, one terminal, one conversation with the model. Codex follows the same pattern. Teams that wanted to collaborate had to copy-paste context or share screen recordings. mpai removes that step by letting multiple participants join the same live session.

The listing is sparse on implementation details — no pricing, no architecture breakdown, no mention of how it handles concurrent edits or session ownership.

NOTE

The listing doesn’t specify whether mpai runs locally or proxies through a server. If it routes session data through a third party, that’s a data-privacy consideration for teams working on proprietary code.

mpai is live on Product Hunt as a discussion post. No pricing page or GitHub repo linked from the listing yet — check the discussion thread for updates from the builder.
