Vercel just shipped a deployment method that skips Git, the CLI, and local tooling entirely. Vercel Drop is a browser page — drag a file or folder onto it, pick a team and project name, hit Deploy, and you get a production URL in seconds.
Three project types work out of the box:
- Framework projects — Vercel auto-detects your framework (Next.js, etc.) and runs the build. Exports from tools like Bolt.new, Claude Design, and Google Stitch deploy this way.
- Static files — Drop an
index.htmlor a folder of assets. No build step needed. - Zip archives — The community announcement confirms
.zipuploads work too.
The real audience here is vibe coders exporting from AI tools. Bolt, Claude, and Google Stitch all generate downloadable project folders — but getting those folders live has meant either wiring up Git or running vercel deploy from a terminal. Drop removes that step. You build in an AI tool, download the output, and drag it onto vercel.com/drop. The whole loop — prompt to production — stays inside a browser.
For teams already using Vercel’s Git-based workflow, Drop doesn’t replace anything. There’s no branch preview, no CI pipeline, no rollback history. It creates a new project each time. This is a fast-publish tool, not a development workflow.
NOTE
Drop creates a new Vercel project per upload. If you need preview deployments or Git-linked continuous delivery, the standard Vercel workflow still applies.
Available now at vercel.com/drop — no account tier restriction mentioned. If you’re exporting from any AI code tool and want a live URL without touching a terminal, this is the fastest path.
