JetBrains is rolling out team-level AI capabilities designed to solve a problem most dev teams already have: developers scattered across different AI tools with no shared context, no governance, and no cost visibility.
The new capabilities, announced today, target four specific gaps:
- Shared context — agents and assistants work from the same project understanding, regardless of which tool a developer picks
- Reusable agentic workflows — teams define and share workflows once, instead of every developer rebuilding prompts from scratch
- Organization-level governance — admins set policies across tools instead of configuring each one separately
- Cost control — centralized tracking of AI usage and spend across the team
The bet is straightforward. Developers already mix JetBrains IDEs with terminal-based agents like Claude Code and Codex. JetBrains’ own data shows only 13% of developers use AI across the entire development lifecycle — the rest operate in pockets, each with their own setup. That fragmentation kills the upside: shared context disappears, workflows don’t transfer between teammates, and nobody knows what the AI bill actually is.
This builds on JetBrains Central, the open platform for agentic development introduced in March 2026, which connects IDEs, CLIs, pipelines, and collaboration tools into a unified system. The team capabilities extend that foundation with the governance and coordination layer organizations need.
NOTE
JetBrains Central Console is gradually replacing JetBrains Account for organization management. Teams managing licenses and AI quotas should expect a migration path, not a hard cutover.
Rolling out now in EAP. Teams on JetBrains AI subscriptions should watch for invitations — the capabilities are being phased in, not flipped on globally.
