OpenAI’s Codex has hit 4 million weekly active users, and the company is now moving aggressively into enterprise deployments. OpenAI announced Codex Labs alongside partnerships with Accenture, PwC, Infosys, and other major consulting and services firms to help large organizations deploy Codex across their software development lifecycle.
The partner strategy is deliberate. Firms like Accenture and Infosys already sit inside enterprise software operations at scale — they handle migrations, modernization projects, and staff augmentation for Fortune 500 companies. Bringing them in as Codex deployment partners means OpenAI doesn’t have to build its own enterprise services arm. The consulting firms do the integration work; OpenAI supplies the model.
Codex Labs appears to be the vehicle for enterprise-specific tooling and support, though the exact feature set beyond deployment assistance hasn’t been detailed publicly. The 4M WAU figure signals that developer adoption is already substantial before the enterprise push fully lands — most of that usage is likely individual developers and smaller teams, not large corporate rollouts.
NOTE
Enterprise AI coding adoption typically lags individual developer adoption by 12-18 months due to security reviews, procurement cycles, and compliance requirements. The partner network is likely designed to compress that timeline.
If your company is evaluating Codex for team or enterprise use, the practical move now is to contact one of the named partners — Accenture, PwC, or Infosys — rather than waiting for a direct OpenAI enterprise sales motion. That’s exactly the channel OpenAI is building out.
