TokenMaxxer: track every AI token you spend across 18 coding tools

A free CLI reads local files from Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and 15 other AI coding tools, then puts all your token usage in one dashboard with cost estimates and a leaderboard.

A CLI tool called TokenMaxxer reads the local files that Cursor, Claude Code, and 16 other AI coding tools already write to disk, then puts every token you spend into one dashboard.

The author built it after realizing they used Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor daily but had no idea how much they were actually consuming across all of them. The tool covers:

  • 18 tools including Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, and Antigravity
  • Breakdowns by tool, model, provider, and day
  • Profile page with daily activity, cost estimates, and top models/tools
  • Global leaderboard — first place currently sits at 45.8B tokens

The tool taps into a trend that already has a name: “tokenmaxxing.” The Pragmatic Engineer noted that some teams run Mac widgets showing spend every 15 minutes. Minimum expected spend targets hit $100/day on Claude Code and $70/day on Cursor. DORA frames heavy token users as potential power users worth studying for high-leverage workflows.

The debate is whether tracking tokens per developer is a useful adoption signal or the dumbest productivity metric since lines of code. TokenMaxxer sidesteps that by being opt-in and personal — you’re tracking your own spend, not someone else’s. The leaderboard is the one place it gets competitive.

NOTE

Cost estimates are derived from token counts and published model pricing, not actual billing data. Two developers consuming identical token volumes can still cost different amounts depending on how their tools handle context, caching, and tool-call overhead.

TokenMaxxer is live at tokenmaxxer.xyz. The CLI is free and the author is soliciting feedback on Show HN.
